The Black Tie Ensemble’s annual Christmas Concert for charity has established itself as one of the definitive concerts in this genre and has become a tradition in Pretoria.

Building on the successful formula of the previous years, The Black Tie Ensemble (BTE), will present A Christmas Concert, in association with the Unisa Music Foundation, which will again enthrall and move concertgoers on 4 December at 15:00 in the ZK Matthews Great Hall at Unisa’s Main Campus in Pretoria.

During the 2010 Christmas Concert, The Black Tie Ensemble contributed towards the Amadea Safe House and Peas in a Pod and this year BTE would like to contribute again to a children’s charity.

Thus The Black Tie Ensemble would like to request all patrons attending the Christmas Concert to bring along an unwrapped gift, for children from the age of 3 to 18, between the value of R50.00 and R100.00. These gifts will be donated to Christway, Peas in a Pod and Chrysalis PreSchool.

Christway cares for approximately 700 children at any given time and also has a safe house where at present 52 children are accommodated and cared for. Most of the children in the shelter are homeless and destitute; a few are abandoned and orphaned.

Chrysalis preschool provides an adapted curriculum to children with special needs, which includes access to interdisciplinary therapeutic intervention that allows their potential to take flight.

Peas in a Pod is a project of Urbanvest Foundation. Peas in a Pod focus primarily on the needs of young victims of physical, emotional and sexual abuse. The innovative program adopted proved immensely successful in charting the way to recovery for the girls.

This heart-warming concert with members of The Black Tie Ensemble and the Unisa Music Foundation Symphony Orchestra conducted by Capetonian, Brandon Phillips, will include much loved traditional carols and sacred songs for the Festive Season.

The programme will cater for the whole family and will include: Joy to the World; The Twelve Days of Christmas;  Battle Hymn of the Republic, When a child is born; Somer Kersfees;  O Holy Night; The Holy City (Jerusalem), to name but a few.

Come and experience the stirring melodies of the Festive Season!
