An attractive combination of flute, cello and piano, called the Sempre Viva Trio will perform at the Enoch Sontonga Hall on Sunday 12 June at 16:00.

This ensemble, consisting of Liesl Stoltz (flute), Polina Burdukova (cello) and Kerryn Wisniewski (piano) will play trios by Carl Maria von Weber, Hans-Andre Stamm, Malcolm Dedman, Gabriel Pierné and Philippe Gaubert.

Liesl Stoltz studied at the University of Stellenbosch, the Ecole Normale de Musique: Alfred Cortot in Paris and at the University of Cape Town (where she teaches at present). She formed Opus Duo with Portuguese classical guitarist Pedro Rodrigues in 2000. Since 2005 she is a member of Trio du Cap together with Anmari van der Westhuizen (cello) and François du Toit (piano).

Polina Burdukova started her education in the prestigious Gnessin’s music school in Moscow and continued her music education in Ghent (Belgium), London and Moscow. Since 2001 she held the position of Co-Principal Cello of Cape Philharmonic Orchestra in Cape Town. She has moved back to Johannesburg in 2005 and has been enjoying a successful solo and chamber music career.

Kerryn Wisniewski studied piano under Sophia Moshevich and Joseph Stanford. She won second prize in the Concours Panafricain de Musique et des Arts and was the overall winner of the Unisa South African Music Scholarship in 1993. In 1997 Kerryn was the winner of the Unisa Overseas Music Scholarship.

Tickets are sold only at the door from 15:00 at R80 for adults and R60 for students and pensioners.
