Spoil dad with KWV Brandy this Father's Day

Father's Day is the perfect time to find ways of saying 'thank you' and acknowledging the special man we call dad. The day provides an excuse to spoil our loved ones - be it a husband, father, grandfather or even a favourite uncle, letting them know how much we cherish the significant role that they play in our lives.

KWV honours this important role of a father, providing the ideal way to celebrate the day with a selection of choice brandies. The superior selection includes KWV's 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20 Year Old brandies, each catering for individual preferences and taste.

The KWV 5 Year Old boasts flavours of ripe apple, pear and raisin enhanced by mild toasted oak aromas. Characteristic flavours lend the brandy to pairing with delicious dishes, such as pears wrapped in Parma Ham. The brandy's medium bodied blend and lingering mellow fruity aftertaste can be furthered savoured by mixing it with Peartiser or Ginger Ale.

One of the favourites in the KWV stable is the 10 Year Old, with its complex dried fruit and port wine aroma, enhanced by subtle spice and nut flavours. This brandy has a taste sensation which is full bodied with a lingering, fruity and slightly sweet aftertaste. It is perfectly paired withMoroccan Chicken Tagine, prepared with apricots and almonds. Enjoy it with Soda Water or drink it neat on the rocks to release its delicate flavours.

KWV's 15 Year Old has complex dried fruits with mainly peach and raisin flavours, with a floral bouquet and subtle port aroma. This is enhanced by delicate spice and rounded off with hints of raspberry, vanilla and nuts. Best enjoyed either on the rocks or neat, to release the inherent aromas and flavours, this brandy makes a great accompaniment to Beef Bobotie with yellow rice, flavoured with tumeric. The quality of KWV's 15 Year has been acknowledged since its inception in 2006, illustrated by achieving the sought after Gold Medal at the international competition, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in 2009 and 2010.

This winning trend has been carried through to KWV's 20 Year Old. Judged in 2010 at the International Sprits Challenge and the Veritas Awards, where it was awarded gold and double gold, respectively, the 20 Year Old has received many accolades for its tropical aroma with hints of pineapple and banana flavours. Delightful either neat or on the rocks, this full bodied, mellow brandy offers an easy drinking experience. The 20 year old completes the range and makes a perfect match with caramelised French Brie with Brandy marinated peaches and melba toast.

KWV's distinctive range of brandies offers many options to suit different palates and is a welcome part of making Father's Day a memorable occasion.

“As a proud father and husband, myself, I enjoy the excuse of Father's Day to share an intimate family day with the special people in my life. It is these moments which are an integral part of the brandy making process – knowing that there will come a time when the final product will be part of an occasion that adds meaning to the lives of others”, comments Kobus Gelderblom, Chief Brandy Master at KWV.

“Cheers to all the dads and the special men in our lives! We salute you and wish you a happy Father's Day.”
