The Mr Gay South Africa road show heads to Durban

After a successful kick-off with a ‘welcoming lunch’ for selected guests at Zietsie’s restaurant in Johannesburg, hosted by celebrity chef and actor Elzabé Zietsman, the Mr. Gay South Africa™ road show heads to Durban this weekend to find the finalist – or finalists – from the Central Region. It is to be held at Durban View Guest House, 16 Holstead Gardens, Musgrave, Durban and hosted by Dave McNaught, local attorney and co-owner of the Guest House with his partner Llewellyn Anderson. The event is scheduled to start at 8 pm, although contestants will start at 5 pm already with the judging process.

The judges will be renowned fashion designer and performance artist Kevin Ellis, Mr. Gay South Africa 2009 finalist Gavin Deale from Durban and Sxolile Dleko, local activist.

The boys will dazzle the crowd in jeans, formal wear and underwear by Official Underwear Sponsor of Mr. Gay South Africa™ Bone Wear. The winner will qualify for the Grand Finale, and take home prizes in excess of R20 000, including a R6 000 bursary from Official Learning Partner, College SA, R4000 from Official Jeweller to Mr. Gay South Africa™, CW Design Jewellers, a weekend away at The Glen Boutique Hotel in Cape Town, a voucher from Bone Wear and of course, a cruise on the MSN Sinfonia from 15 – 19 November, co-sponsored by Mr. Gay South Africa™ and Alternative Travel.

Coenie Kukkuk, Director of Operations said: “We are determined to leave Durban on Sunday with a candidate – or candidates – who will be an asset to the competition. Durban is an important location on our road show as this is also where the cruise, which will be attended by all finalists from across South Africa, will embark.”
