3 Wiser Men for the Baxter

2009-10-19

Join Marc Lottering, Riaad Moosa and Nik Rabinowitz for the much anticipated return of 3 Wiser Men for the summer season at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town.

This completely new show is directed by David Kramer and celebrates Capetonians' ability to laugh at and with one another.
Donveno Prins and his band join the 3 Wiser Men and their alter egos Auntie Merle, Beryl Rosenberg and Aysha to help us laugh our way into 2010. Aweh! Mazeltov! Algamduri'lah!

Marc Lottering hails from Cape Town, and is considered by many to be one of the hottest comics on offer from South Africa. The son of a pastor, Marc's colourful upbringing is often reflected in his unique brand of comedy that has established him as a firm favourite with so many audiences. He has performed to ex-pats in London, Australia, New Zealand and Toronto. Lottering continues to keep fans entertained with his hugely successful DVDs: From the Cape Flats With Love, Big Stakes and Slap Chips and Hallelujah!, all directed by David Kramer.

Nik Rabinowitz was raised on the mean, green streets of Plumstead West, a world of ride-by shootings, piano lessons, and unrelenting love and financial support from family members. He grew up as a farm boy; climbing trees, speaking Xhosa and commentating on his own rugby games in Afrikaans. After graduating from UCT with a business science degree and a large afro, he took off with a band of travelling actors and a herd of displaced Zimbabwean donkeys before becoming a stand-up comedian. Awarded South African Stand-up Comic of the Year for 2008/09, Nik currently presents "The Week that Wasn't" for talk radio stations Cape Talk & 702, has just completed a season of his fifth one man show, uNik, and cannot wait to be reunited with his Muslim and Christian brethren for the much-anticipated return of 3 Wiser Men.

Riaad Moosa, a qualified medical doctor (yes, really), started his stage career as a comedy magician, and is now a regular headliner on comedy circuits all over South Africa. He was part of the very successful Laugh Out Loud comedy series on television as well as performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with the Cape Comedy Collective. His show, Strictly Halaal has played to sold out houses around the country. Riaad's newest show, For the Baracka, has been performed at the Mandela Theatre in Johannesburg.

David Kramer has directed three of Marc Lottering's award winning shows, as well as his own musicals, both locally and abroad.

3 Wiser Men runs from 18 November 2008 to 9 January 2010 and tickets cost from R75 to R120 via Computicket, www.computicket.co.za or 083 915 8000.
