We're painting the town orange

CAPE TOWN ALBUM LAUNCH - COME SHAKE A TAIL FEATHER

On Saturday night 7 November, we will be painting the town orange. Why orange? Because we will all be going down to Amadoda to celebrate the launch of the album! Amadoda is a shebeen style venue in Woodstock that brings the township vibe into the heart of Cape Town, where everything is orange - the walls, the aprons, the jukebox... therefore this will be, erm, an orange carpet event! We will be dressing up Sophiatown style, with glitz, glamour, pap and pesto (but more about that next week... )

WATCH SHIFT PERFORMANCE ON YOUTUBE

On Wednesday 7 October Nomfusi peformed Vuma, a song her sangoma mother Kwazibani taught her, on SHIFT, SABC1. This song, which celebrates the ancestors, came to Kwazibani in a dream. Nomfusi penned her own verse section, which complements the song beautifully. Watch at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gr8W_L6l0g

Herewith an English translation of "Vuma"

"Hear hear to our forefathers"
Hear hear to our forefathers x2
We all say "hear hear!"

They've given as a home
They've given as life
Their blessings are upon us
Those who have passed away

Hear hear to our forefathers x2
We all say "hear hear!"

To the peace makers
Those who loved their neighbour
To those who have passed away
