Director: Oliver Hermanus
Starring: Deon Lotz, Charlie Keegan, Michelle Scott, Albert Maritz, Sue Diepeveen and Roeline Daneel

From the producers of Equation, in association with Moonlighting Films and directed by Oliver Hermanus (director of Shirley Adams), the first Afrikaans Award Winning Film at the Cannes Film Festival, Skoonheid (Beauty), once again triumphed at the Durban Film Festival and walked away with 2 awards at the ceremony on Saturday evening! The film was awarded as Best South African Feature Film as well as The Jury Special Mention Prize.

Director Oliver Hermanus was at the ceremony to receive the award and says
he is very proud to have been honoured in Durban again and is determined to gain immediate audience responses and engage in conversation when the film releases next weekend. ‘To be awarded prizes by both juries is also extremely encouraging. I hope to keep up our amazing run with international festival awarding Skoonheid, and I hope South Africa will go and see it this weekend’, says Hermanus.

Skoonheid (Beauty) tells the story of a repressed 45-year-old Afrikaner from Bloemfontein. The character Francois van Heerden has become devoid of any care or concern for his own measure of happiness, and so convinced of his ill-fated existence, that he is wholly unprepared when a chance encounters and unravels his clean, controlled life.

The cast include the very talented Deon Lotz, Charlie Keegan, Michelle Scott, Albert Maritz, Sue Diepeveen and Roeline Daneel to name a few.

Skoonheid (Beauty) releases this Friday, August 5th at selected Ster Kinekor theatres.
